Events can be trade shows, race days, training or classes, conventions, or any other event that your potential customers might be interested in. Events can be related to news articles or resources. Events can be related to resources by a hosting resource or location and an event organizer. An example would be a race track that hosts a race and a race organization puts on the event-Daytona International Speedway could be the host and NASCAR could be the organizer for the Daytona 500.
A good example of how the portal relates information in a way that users find very helpful is on the 1Tail site. All the tracks in the United States that hold motorcycle roadracing events are listed in the resources section of the portal. A user can then drill down to a specific track and see a list of upcoming events at that track and the organizations that are operating that event. This draws both roadrace fans and actual roadrace participants to the site, both of which are the target audience for the 1Tail site. To date we know of no other portals that have the information related in such a way on the web. There is no other place on the web where all the roadracing events are covered in a relational manner as they are covered on the 1Tail site.
