BigButtons – a Business WordPress Theme

Big Buttons is a WordPress business theme with a professional home page for companies that want a clean look with a large main image.

BigButtons ReadMe


Big Buttons has a big central box for a main image, four boxes on the right and across the bottom. These can be used to divide up the focus of the business into its primary services and products, to link to news, videos and more. The free Big Buttons theme is courtesy of OrderStorm.com.

Installation

Manual installation:
1. Upload the `big-buttons` folder to the `/wp-content/themes/` directory

Installation using “Add New Theme”:
1. From your Admin UI (dashboard), use the menu to select Themes -> Add New
2. Search for ‘Big Buttons’
3. Click the ‘Install’ button to open the theme’s repository listing
4. Click the ‘Install’ button

Activation and Use
1. Activate the Theme through the ‘Themes’ menu in WordPress
2. See Appearance -> Big Buttons Options for Theme Options

Setup

Custom Background

Big Buttons uses the core WordPress custom backgrounds feature. Modify the background via Dashboard -> Settings -> Background

Custom Menus

Big Buttons uses the core WordPress custom navigation menus feature. Modify the background via Dashboard -> Settings -> Menus

Big Buttons incorporates two menu locations: one in the header and one in the footer. The header menu
is a drop down menu that will display up to three levels of hierarchy. The footer menu displays only one level of hierarchy.

Featured Images

Big Buttons uses the core WordPress featured images (i.e. post thumbnails) feature.

Featured images are set on a per-post basis, by attaching images to a post (either blog post or static
page), and then selecting an attached image as the “Featured Image”, using the “Featured Image” metabox on the post’s edit screen.

Featured images will display above the post content in the single-post (or static page) view. Images up to 863px in width will be used as-is; wider images will be resized proportionally.

Widgets

Big Buttons uses the core WordPress widgets feature. Modify widget settings via Dashboard -> Settings -> Widgets

Big Buttons incorporates two widgetized areas: one on the right side of the header, and one on the left
side of the footer.

Custom Logo

Big Buttons incorporates a Theme option to upload a custom logo.
Modify setting via Dashboard -> Appearance -> Big Buttons Options

Under the “Header” section, upload your custom logo image file.

Logo must be no larger than 418px in width by 54px in height.

Social Network Links

Big Buttons incorporates Theme options to display social network icons/links. Modify settings via Dashboard -> Appearance -> Big Buttons Options

Under the “Header” section, add your Twitter, Facebook, and/or YouTube profiles. Note: only add your profile name, not the full URL.

Front Page Display

The Front Page display is controlled by the Big Buttons Theme options. Modify settings via Dashboard -> Appearance -> Big Buttons Options

Under the “Front Page Main Image” section, modify settings for the main image:

-Main image
-File: Upload image file 622px by 444px.
-Link: Select linked page from dropdown list

Under the “Front Page Right-Side Images” section, modify settings for the right-side images:

-Right-Side images
-File: Upload image file 226px by 128px.
-Link: Select linked page from dropdown list
-Link Text: Text to display for link
-Teaser Text: Short description to display above link text

Under the “Front Page Bottom Images” section, modify settings for the bottom images:

-Bottom Images
-File: Upload image file 284px by 80px.
-Link: Select linked page from dropdown list
